Bart Umidi Named Executive Chef at The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa


HILTON HEAD ISLAND -April, 2010 - The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa is pleased to announce Bart Umidi as Executive Chef of the 412-room resort. With over twenty five years under his belt, Chef Umidi now leads the culinary team as they strive to enhance the food and beverage offerings for its banquets, group functions and private events with unique and delightful creations. The new executive chef will also have a hand in all culinary execution and menus at the resorts' three restaurant venues - Carolina Café, Turtles Poolside Beach Bar & Grill as well as Oceans, the hotel's new signature seafood restaurant which has one of Hilton Head Island's best ocean views.

Prior to joining The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa team, Umidi's experience include various four and five diamond hotels all over the United States and Bermuda, most recently as Executive Chef at The Westin Maui Resort and Spa. Other previous positions include Executive Chef at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel, Bermuda, Chef de Cuisine at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort, and Chef at the Broadmoor Resort, Colorado Springs.  Umidi has an extensive culinary background in hotels and resorts and has a proven track record with successfully controlling food and labor budgets. Umidi received an Associate's Degree from The Culinary Institute of America in New York and a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Maryland, College Park.
